About Dr. Rajin Choudhury

Dr Rajin Choudhury is an Internist, Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist. 


Dr.Choudhury's primary and secondary schooling was completed in the United Arab Emirates.


After 6 years of medical school and 1 year of Internship, he graduated from 'University of Medicine and Pharmacy 'Gr.T.Popa', with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Sur

Dr Rajin Choudhury is an Internist, Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist. 


Dr.Choudhury's primary and secondary schooling was completed in the United Arab Emirates.


After 6 years of medical school and 1 year of Internship, he graduated from 'University of Medicine and Pharmacy 'Gr.T.Popa', with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery. 


He spent the next 5 years to complete his residency training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the IMSP Institutul de Cardiologie under Universitatea de Stat de Medicina si Farmacie ‘Nicolae Testemitanu’.

Following his specialisation in Cardiology, he gained valuable hands on experience and skills working as Senior Registrar for 2 years in Interventional Cardiology , device implantations and Cardiac critical care at the Super-speciality hospital chain Narayana Health 'Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences’, Kolkata, India.

The next 3 years he served as Specialist Cardiologist under UAE Ministry of Health, at 'Al Qassimi Hospital', Sharjah, UAE. Here his practise included non-invasive Cardiology as well as Interventional Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing. He was actively involved in Coronary Interventions, and was part of TAVI, LAA closure,

The next 3 years he served as Specialist Cardiologist under UAE Ministry of Health, at 'Al Qassimi Hospital', Sharjah, UAE. Here his practise included non-invasive Cardiology as well as Interventional Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing. He was actively involved in Coronary Interventions, and was part of TAVI, LAA closure, Renal Denervations, Peripheral intervention teams and procedure. He implanted pacemakers, ICD's, CRTs, and assisted international experts in conventional and complex arrhythmia ablations. 


In 2015, he has been recognized with an Award of Recognition for Outstanding Service to Patients and Cardiology from Al Qassimi Hospital Sharjah, under the Ministry of Health, United Arab Emirates.

Cardiac Electrophysiology Training

  • He was the recipient of 2014 joint EHRA – APHRS (European heart rhythm association – Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society) fellowship award. 
  • Cardiac Electrophysiologist - He then compketed a 1 year training as a clinical fellow in invasive cardiac electrophysiology and pacing at AZ Sint-Jan Hospital Brugge-Oostende AV in Brugge, Belgium. 
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing - He was awarded a 2016 Fellowship Grant for Postgraduate training in cardiac electrophysiology and pacing at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and trained for 1 year at the 'Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel' Hospital in Belgium.
  • Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology (Grad Dip) - He has also pursued a Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology from 'Cardiac Electrophysiology Institute of Australasia', Australia.
  • Cardiac Electrophysiologist - Dr.Choudhury further completed a 2 year intensive cardiac rhythm management (pacing and electrophysiology) fellowship at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, Heart Rhythm Service, Division of Cardiology, Halifax Infirmary, Canada. 
  • These gave Dr.Choudhury the experience of working in high-volume European Centres as well as the academics and skills of top North American Cardiac Electrophysiology programs.

Teaching and Publications

  • He has multiple publications. 
  • He has held degrees and Medical licenses to practise from multiple countries such as Canada, Ireland, Belgium, UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, Romania and Moldova.
  • He has been actively involved in teaching Medical students, Residents of Internal Medicine and Cardiology and Cardiology Fellows in training throughout these years.

Area of Interest

Dr. Choudhury has a special interest in arrhythmia ablation including 

  • Supraventricular tachycardia, 
  • Atrial flutter, 
  • Atrial fibrillation,
  • Ventricular ectopy/tachycardia
  • He Implants and performs programming of pacemakers, implantable defibrillators and performs cardiac resynchronisation therapy for heart failure.

Dr Choudhury served as Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist between 2019 and 2022

Dr Choudhury managed General Cardiology patients, critical care patients in CCU, and the Cardiac Electrophysiology service. 

He managed the device clinic as well was involved in implanting devices and performing catheter ablations of complex heart rhythm diseases in the EP lab.


He was one of the two Cardiac Electrophysiologist physicians in KAMC which is a tertiary care hospital receiving patient referrals from the seven hospitals of Makkah cluster.

Dr Choudhury is a specialist in Cardiac Amyloidosis, a Cardiology sub-specialty. He trained at LIBIN Cardiovascular Institute,  Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Although Cardiac Amyloidosis is one among the few Cardiology sub-speciality fellowship trainings prevalent across USA for the last few years, this training was the first of its kind in Canada.  Given that there is now new ground breaking treatment available for the condition, the clinical training involved expert rotations in 

* Cardio-Onclology-Hematology with knowledge of the present chemotherapy management, 

*Advanced Heart Failure with exposure to patients with LVAD and heart transplantation, 

*Critical care management, 

*Advanced cardiac Imaging (including Echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and Nuclear Cardiology), and all aspects of Cardiac Amyloidosis management, including *Dysautonomia and Autonomic Function Testing, *Neuromuscular testing, 

*Genetic testing and counselling, 

*Renal manifestation of the disease and 

*Geriatric implications of the disease (in the elderly).
